Stop Saying “What’s New?” and Ask “What’s Good?”

I hear it all the time.  Oh you know….

  • Mortgage payments.
  • I’m broke.
  • I hate my job.
  • I don’t know what I’m doing with my life
  • I’m not happy.

Don’t you hate this?  Sometimes people ask “What’s New?”, and if you’re going through a rough patch, you’re going to just inundate them with all the details about it.  At the end of the conversation, you’re going to be tired and stressed, and your friend will be cowering in fear over your aggressive attitude.

Try This on for Size.  “What’s Good?”

You’ll be surprised at the reaction you get.  People will actually think about this question, and reply with something thoughtful.

“What’s good?  Wow, I’ve never been asked that!  Oh, well let me tell you…”

Just try it once and you’ll be amazed at how good you make people feel.  Seriously!  Turn around to a friend, family member, or coworker right now and ask them.  Think about it.

Did it work?  Tell me about it!
